Deadline to Renew your Alaska Real Estate License
Saturday, January 31, 2026
Description
The Alaska Real Estate Commission (AKREC) is the state entity who renews your real estate license.
Do not wait until the last minute to renew your license! All real estate licenses that have not been renewed by January 31st will lapse on February 1st. You cannot practice real estate with a lapse license.
Below is a message from the Alaska Real Estate Commission (AREC):
NOTE: Expiration Date Extension – Renewals Submitted by 1/31/2026
Per 12 AAC 02.940(e), If you have submitted your Renewal application (hardcopy or online) and paid the fee no later than January 31st, 2026, your license will be extended for up to an additional three months while staff review and process your renewal application. Watch for additional updates and information that may be needed to complete your renewal. No further extensions are available.
Real Estate License Renewals – Final Days
Online renewal is officially available for the 2025–2026 licensing cycle. To renew online, you must be registered for a MyLicense account, accessed through your myAlaska login. (See “CLICK HERE” instructions on the REC website.)
If you have not registered your license in MyLicense, select “Add Your Existing License” and enter your license number and authorization code.
- Include letters if they are part of your license number (e.g., RECS1243) (e.g., OFFICE1234).
- If your license number is only digits, do not add “AK” (e.g., 123456).
- For Brokers – if your office number is less than 6 digits you must add the letters “OFFICE” in front of your number.
Once your license is added, use the Actions button (top right of your record) to update your information and begin your renewal.
